Freeride World Qualifier 2017 – 4* & Silver King Northern Hemisphere Championships 2017

Crystal Mountain Resort will host an International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association (IFSA) sanctioned FWQ 4 Star freeride competition. Freeriders are scored based on line choice, fluidity, technique, control, and style as they navigate through natural terrain featuring trees, steeps, cliffs, chutes, drops and gullies where they are rewarded for using the features creatively. 1st Annual Mike Brooks Memorial Bobbleheads & Brews @ Crystal Mountain Resort
Apr 15 @ 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Picture of mike smilingMike Brooks was on his way to work when he was killed by an impaired driver on June 7, 2016. Mike left behind a wife (Rachael), a son (McCoy age 10), and a daughter (Finley, age 8). One of the nicest people you will ever meet, Mike was an avid sports fan and an encyclopedia of trivia knowledge.

In addition to his family, Mike loved the outdoors. Whether it was hiking, camping, running, biking, or skiing, Mike loved being active and being outside. Through his work in the ski industry Mike learned of the Outdoors for All Foundation, and worked with them to provide an outlet for people to enjoy the outdoors.

Founded in 1979 in the Pacific Northwest, Outdoors for All delivers adaptive and therapeutic recreation for children and adults with disabilities. Outdoors for All enriches the lives of individuals with disabilities by helping them to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Outdoors for All programs include: snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross country and downhill skiing, cycling, hiking, yoga, kayaking, day camps, rock-climbing, and camping.

It is in this spirit that friends and family members of Mike have chosen to host a memorial event in Mike’s honor at Crystal Mountain on April 15.

Join us for a fun day on the slopes as we remember Mike Brooks and support a cause that was dear to him. Friends and family invite you to participate in a scavenger hunt for prizes, beer tasting, silent auction and raffle.
