How do I register my child?
Mountain Sports Teams (formally Multiweek Lessons) are available through online registration only. The 2016/17 season registration will begin on October 1, 2016. Visit our Lessons + Rentals page at crystalmountainresort.com to select an age, sport, and ability-appropriate product for your child. Registration closes 48 hours prior to the session start date.
What is the class I want is full?
If we are unable to accommodate your child on a Mountain Sports Team session due to selling out, we offer the options to waitlist or otherwise consider one of our many other age-appropriate lesson products. Contact one of our friendly sales representatives for alternatives to multiweek lessons at 360-663-3030.
If you elect to waitlist, email email@example.com and provide the following information:
- The name, date, and session you are requesting,
- Your full name and phone number with area code, and
- Your child’s full name, age/birthdate, level (if known), and any allergies or medical conditions.
We will contact you within 24 hours of the session start date if a spot opens up. Payment will be due immediately upon your acceptance into the program.
How do I make changes or cancel registration?
Registration may be cancelled and fully refunded up to 48 hours prior to the program start date. Change requests by parents will be honored up to 48 hours prior to the program start date. Please keep in mind that your child may be transferred to a different class at their Coach’s discretion during the series. This is to ensure a smooth skill progression. You will be notified if your child is transferred to a different class.
How shall I prepare my child for snow?
Check the day’s forecast and prepare a comfortable weatherproof pack for your child that includes:
- Warm layers such as fleece jackets or vests and a comfortable base layer.
- Weatherproof outer jacket and ski pants.
- Helmet, gloves, hat, goggles, sunscreen, and an extra pair of socks.
As weather conditions determine, we recommend additionally packing an alternate water-resistant jacket and ski pants, a balaklava, turtle fur, and hand warmers to ensure your child’s comfort.
Please encourage your child to have a good night’s rest and a high-protein breakfast with plenty of water to give them the energy they need for their lesson. Please plan for up to 30 minutes to park and shuttle back to the base area.
When should we arrive on mountain? Where do we go first?
Meet inside the Chapel side entrance by 9am, located in the upper-left corner of A lot. Lessons are between 9:30-3:30pm.
Where do I park at Crystal Mountain?
You may drop your child’s gear off with an adult (18+) at the Chapel side entrance at the top left corner of A Lot and park in the public areas of Lots A-F then catch the shuttle back to the base area. Please plan for 30+ minutes to park and shuttle, depending on the number of visitors and weather conditions.
Where do I rent equipment for my child?
During registration you may elect to purchase a multi-day rental package through the Rental Shop. The team will have your gear adjusted and waiting in the Chapel on the morning of your lesson. You are welcome to provide your child’s own equipment but please note that our Rental Technicians are restricted from adjusting equipment outside of Crystal Mountain’s rental fleet. For your child’s safety, verify that the DIN on their skis have been properly set by a technician. Please be sure to return your child’s gear to the Rental Shop at the end of the day to avoid a late charge.
How are lessons assigned/students leveled?
Students are assigned to classes based on the information provided at registration. Any class transfers made after the session start date will be made at the Coach’s discretion. Please note that students may move through Levels 1-4 quickly then remain at the same level where it may take them several seasons to advance. All students progress at different rates and we want to give them the coaching they need to reach their goal. Please help your child understand this learning process and try not to be discouraged. The complex nature of teaching integrated skills on varied terrain is an essential pivot point in snow sports and your child’s instructors are trained to maximize their fun and growth.
Where can I watch my child during their lesson?
In order to encourage class cohesion, with each other and their instructor, we ask that parents refrain from interrupting programs in-progress. We recommend watching your child from the upper/lower plaza patios, and keep an eye out for them on the slopes.
I don’t ski or ride. What can I do on-mountain while my child’s in lessons?
If you would like to learn how to ski or ride, we offer many Adult Group lesson products on a daily walk-in basis. Please visit our Snowsports Sales Desk located next to the Rental Shop, left of the grand staircase. One of our friendly Sales Representatives will be happy to provide recommendations, schedule guided snowshoe tours or purchase scenic gondola rides. If you you’re not inclined to ski, we recommend making a reservation at the Summit House and enjoying the scenic gondola ride to Washington’s Highest Elevation Restaurant with four-star dining with a backdrop view of Mt. Rainier. You may also enjoy a variety of dining options in our base area, or peruse the plaza for shopping, rental or technical services. We hope you enjoy your visit to Crystal Mountain.

What will my child be doing for lunch?
Lessons break for lunch from 11:45-12:30pm. Students eat as a group with their instructors and chaperones. They are served various plated hot/cold lunches prepared by the Cascade Grill.
What if my child has an allergy or other medical condition?
If your child has a food allergy or dietary restriction, please forward a copy of their doctor’s recommendations to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will connect with you by phone prior to the program start date to make alternative arrangements.
Can I eat lunch with my child or check them out during their lesson?

If your child has dietary restrictions, please email your name and number to email@example.com and a member of the Snowsports team will contact you by phone prior to the program start date to make alternative arrangements.
What if my child misses a day in the series?
Make-up classes are not available. If a student misses any dates in their series we recommend connecting with the Sales Desk to arrange a private lesson so we can ensure they complete the skill set for their series.
It’s likely that students will drop down a level or more if they miss a class, based on class progressions and student ability. They may be transferred to a more appropriate class at the Coach’s discretion. Students who miss two or more days will be withdrawn from the program.
Are lessons cancelled due to weather?
Lessons are never cancelled due to weather. If conditions arise that force Crystal Mountain to close, the Snowsports School reserves the right to refund or reschedule a cancelled session, or to consider a partially completed session as complete. We encourage participants to check the Multiweek webpage weekly for periodic updates, especially if extreme weather is in the forecast.
Is it appropriate to tip my child’s instructor?
Gratuities for coaches are not a requirement but they are an appropriate and appreciated gesture. A 15-20% gratuity based on the cost of the lesson will make your coach feel very appreciated and valued.
What is the refund policy?
Every effort is being made to ensure that you and your child has a fantastic experience at Crystal Mountain. Registration may be canceled for a full refund up to 48 hours prior to the program start date. All programs are nonrefundable with two exceptions:
- If the student is moving from the local geographic area (with proof of address change), or
- If the student is physically unable to continue (with doctor’s note)
There will be no refund for students removed from the program for disciplinary reasons. The Snowsports School reserves the right to refund or reschedule a canceled session, or to consider a partially completed session as complete. All tickets and rentals are nontransferable.
