Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is there a parking zone for families to unload the car close to the lodge?

A. Yes! Drive all the way up to A-lot where you’ll find our family load/unload zone just steps away from the ticket booths, restrooms, and lifts. This is a short-term parking zone that offers an easy solution to unloading the cars and kids. Once unloaded, the driver can quickly park the car and catch a shuttle ride back up to the lodge.

Q. What rental equipment is available and how can I reserve it?
A. Rental equipment is available for all ages including skis, ski boots, poles, snowboards, snowboard boots, and helmets. Snowshoes are also available for rent. You can reserve equipment online or purchase it day-of. Availability varies based on demand.

Q. What dining options are available?
A. We have a variety of dining options to choose from. There is the the Fireside and Rafters at the base area. We also have Campbell Basin Lodge at midway, and the Summit House at the top of the Mt. Rainier Gondola offering some of the best views in the state. View our dining options page for more information.

Q. What available terrain & lifts are available for first timers and beginners?
A. Our easiest “Green” runs are located on the Discovery and Quicksilver chairlifts. All-mountain children’s tickets are FREE (ages 4 and under) with paid adults. A beginner-only adult Discovery lift ticket is also available. We have a wide variety of terrain to accommodate all levels of skiers and riders.

Plan ahead pack the night before your trip and map out your driving directions.

Label your name on all equipment: coats, gloves, hats and goggles in case anything gets left behind.
Stow an extra vehicle key safely and separately from your usual set of keys.

Check weather conditions before leaving home and prepare accordingly. Visit our Mountain Report page for the latest weather conditions and operational information.

Crystal’s weather can change by the minute, be prepared for the elements by dressing in layers. Avoid wearing cotton next to your skin and make sure your outer layer is water-repellent.

Be prepared for winter driving conditions. Take it slow on ice and snow. Allow extra room between vehicles and avoid abrupt actions while steering, braking, or accelerating.

Clear snow and ice off your vehicle – including lights and roof – before driving. Keep your car stocked with basic winter safety equipment such as a scraper, shovel, chains, and jumper cables.

Fill up before leaving home – Leave home with a full tank! Gas is not available at Crystal Mountain.
