FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


DO I NEED TO MAKE A RENTAL RESERVATION?
YES-To make your experience as smooth as possible, please make a reservation online prior to arrival. Gear is limited and we can sell out quickly. However, we do have someone available onsite to help you modify or add additional items to your reservation. Please plan accordingly and make your reservation in advance. Payment is taken in full at the time of reservation. No restrictions on when you can book, 5 minutes before or months before arrival.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BOOKING IN ADVANCE?
Save at least 15% off walk-up rates, select the style of gear you want, and get to the slopes faster! Booking in advance can save you at least 25% of the wait time, and shoe storage is included in the rental cost.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T MAKE A RESERVATION?
We have one cashier available to help with add-ons and reservation changes. Walk-up prices will be 15% more expensive and we cannot guarantee any specific gear. Wait times will be longer and shoe storage will be an additional cost. Please book in advance to make it easier on yourself and our employees.

HOW DO I GET THE BEST DEAL?
Book packages and multi-day rentals in advance to get the best deal. The further in advance you book, the cheaper the price. Mid-week pricing is a great deal, plus you can skip the crowds and ski and ride when the slopes are wide open.

WHEN DO I NEED TO BOOK MY RENTAL RESERVATION?
You can book your rental at any time, but we highly recommend you book as soon as you confirm the dates you are visiting. The shop recommendation is 3-7 days in advance. Even further out during the holidays.

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO PROVIDE ACCURATE DETAILS WHEN PRE-ORDERING EQUIPMENT?
Extremely important! The details you provide help us select equipment appropriate for your ability and size and allow us to safely configure the binding release settings on the skis. Skiing can be dangerous, and we want to minimize the risk.

CAN I RENT GEAR IN THE AFTERNOON BEFORE THE DAY OF MY RENTAL?
YES: If we have your gear available, you can come in to pick it up between 2-4pm the day before. If you would like us to store the gear for you overnight, we offer an overnight option at our Ski & Bag storage location (Corner of Sundeck).
HOW MANY LEVELS OF GEAR DO YOU RENT?
3 Levels of Ski Gear:
Beginner Ski (76mm- Skier Type I) Beginner
Performance Ski (90mm- Skier Type 2) Intermediate
Demos Ski (82-120mm- Skier Type 3+) Advanced

2 Levels of Snowboard Gear:
Beginner Snowboard (Beginner Boarder Type)
Demo Snowboard (Intermediate-Advanced Boarder Type)



HOW DO I DETERMINE MY SKIER TYPE?
Type 1 Skier
A type 1 skier prefers skiing cautiously and at slower speeds. This skier is most comfortable on smooth slopes of gentle to moderate pitch. As a type 1 skier you prefer lower-than-average release/retention settings so in the case of a fall your bindings are more likely to release. A type 1 skier is an entry-level skier uncertain about their classification.

Type 2 Skier
A type 2 skier prefers a variety of speeds. A type 2 skier will ski on varied terrains and explore different parts of the mountain. If a skier cannot decide that they are a 1 or 3 they are a 2. A type 2 skier prefers average release/retention settings appropriate for most recreational skiing.

Type 3 Skier
A type 3 skier prefers faster speeds. A type 3 skier likes going fast and skis aggressively on slopes of moderate to steep pitch. Type 3 skiers prefer higher-than-average release/retention settings. As a type 3 skier they decreased the risk of inadvertent binding release. Mention any dissatisfaction to your binding technician.
WHAT BRANDS DO YOU CARRY IN YOUR DEMO SELECTION?
This season we have 12 ski brands, 82 ski models, and 189 new skis. We also have 8 snowboard brands in 78 models and 89 new snowboards. The brands we carry include Nordica, Blizzard, Elan, Line, K2, Atomic, Volkl, Armada, 4FRNT, Rossignol, Icelantic, Salomon, Arbor, Capita, GNU, Lib-Tec, Jones, Never Summer, Ride.

WHAT BINDINGS DO YOU USE ON YOUR DEMO FLEET?
Ski Binding brands: Marker, Atomic and Look.
Snowboard Bindings: -Union and Rossignol.


WHAT BRANDS DO YOU CARRY IN YOUR RENTAL FLEET?
We are considered a Rossignol Experience Center, which means we carry all Rossignol downhill Ski and Snowboard equipment. Rossignol gear will make you feel comfortable and supported, giving you the best chance for having fun and progressing.

WHAT OTHER TYPES OF EQUIPMENT ARE YOU RENTING THIS YEAR?
We rent jackets, pants, goggles, snowshoes, and helmets for all ages and sizes. We also provide shoe storage, ski storage and bag storage. All gear is cleaned and sanitized regularly. Each item comes at additional cost. If you need to rent everything, check out the “All Gear” product to bundle all items and save.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN “PACKAGE” VS “SKI OR BOOT ONLY”?
“Ski or Snowboard Package” = Includes Skis, Boots, Bindings, and Poles or Snowboard, Boots, and Bindings.
“Ski/Snowboard Only Rental” = Includes only Skis and Bindings/Snowboard and Bindings (BOOTS ARE NOT INCLUDED). You will want this item if you bring your personal Ski/Snowboard Boots.
“Ski/Snowboard Boots Only” = Includes Only Ski/Snowboard Boots. SKIS/SNOWBOARDS ARE NOT INCLUDED. You will want this item if you bring your own personal Skis/Snowboard.

HOW NEW IS YOUR RENTAL EQUIPMENT?
Our full rental fleet is from within the last 2 seasons. We did increase the number of units this season, adding another additional 15%.

CAN YOU GUARANTEE ME THE AVAILABILITY OF A SPECIFIC DEMO MODEL?
NO-As of now, we do not have this system in place for daily demos. We always try our best to accommodate requests. Please understand we cannot guarantee a specific model or size on a certain day. We can promise to find every reservation a great alternative to your selection if for whatever reason something happens.
Check out the Quiver Pass for unlimited demos to use any day at Crystal. All skis are tuned and waxed regularly to keep our equipment in the best condition.

WHAT IS AND WHERE IS BRAND-X EQUIPMENT?
Brand-X equipment is located on the 4th level of the day lodge (Chinook Level) which includes:
Rental + Demo Shop, Repair Shop + Waxing, Day use Lockers, and Ski & Bag Storage located out on the corner of sundeck just outside of rentals. You can bypass going inside the lodge if that is all you need.


WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE EQUIPMENT OR WANT TO CHANGE TO ANOTHER SIZE?
If you have questions at any point, you can stop by Brand-X Equipment to talk with one of our pros to get your equipment changed out. We will be happy to get any problems fixed as quickly as possible. You do not need to wait in the check-in line to be seen again.

ARE SKI POLES INCLUDED IN THE COST OF RENTING SKIS OR SNOWSHOES?
Yes- ski poles will come with a Beginner, Performance, Demo Ski Only, and Package products, as well as snowshoe rentals. Make sure to view our sizing chart while in line to find the best fit. The only time you would need to pay for poles is if that is all you need. (We cannot guarantee a “Pole Only” rental. Each set of skis comes with 1 set of poles.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET RENTALS THROUGH BRAND-X EQUIPMENT?
Always prepare for extra time, but on average it takes between 15-20 minutes. We take pride in moving quickly and keeping you safe going down the mountain. Please give yourself ample time to travel to the resort, park, get checked into lessons and for varying road conditions.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I FORGET/LOSE OR NEED TO BUY A PIECE OF GEAR THAT DOESN’T COME WITH MY RENTAL (SOCKS, GLOVES, GATERS, ETC.)
We do not rent socks or gloves, gaiters, buffs, base layers or other pieces of additional equipment. If you need anything else stop by Right Angle Retail to purchase what you need.

WHERE DO I RETURN MY RENTAL EQUIPMENT?
Return your equipment to the same place from where you picked it up. Just go through the shop in reverse order. Our pros will take your skis/boards at the tech bench and send you down to boots to return/ get assisted with your boot return.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE MY RENTALS OR DON’T RETURN MY RENTALS ON TIME?
You will be charged for an additional daily rental if the gear is not returned by the time we close or we do not have the gear to rent the following day. Immediately ask to speak to a Brand-X Supervisor if gear is missing, lost, or broken. Missing gear happens, always take a picture of your rental barcode knowing which piece of gear is yours or someone else’s.

CAN I EXTEND MY RENTAL IF I DECIDE TO STAY ANOTHER DAY?
Yes, you can, but it’s all based on availability for the following day/week. Before you return your gear towards the end of the day, just talk with one of our shop pros for assistance.

ARE HELMETS INCLUDED WITH MY SKI/SNOWBOARD RENTAL?
No- Helmets are not included with any equipment package. Helmets are highly recommended, but they are optional for personal safety. During purchase, you can add a rental helmet for an additional price. Our helmets are all sanitized and checked for safety after every use. If you want to purchase your own helmet, stop by Right Angle Retail.

WILL YOU HELP ME SET UP MY OWN PERSONAL GEAR?
No- The Rental Shop does not set up personal equipment. We recommend going straight to the Tune Shop to see a trained technician who can assist you. They offer a variety of services.
DO YOU PROVIDE ANY FORM OF COVERAGE THAT COVERS AGAINST EXCESSIVE DAMAGE OF EQUIPMENT? (LOSS AND THEFT NOT INCLUDED)
Yes – we offer an optional damage waiver fee that covers your skis or snowboard against accidental damage with no additional cost. This is charged on a per-day basis for the duration of your rental and the price depends on the level of ski or snowboard you are renting. When making a booking you will need to include the “Damage Waiver Cost”. The damage waiver only covers repair to the gear. The damage waiver does not cover lost, stolen, or broken gear. Gear with excessive damage is liable to pay for the cost of repair.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET INJURED OR SICK AND UNABLE TO USE MY RENTAL?
An illness or accident occurring to an individual during the first 2 hours of a ski day, or the closure of all resort facilities are the only grounds giving one the right to a refund. If you are sick, you need to send an email to CMRentals@skicrystal.com before 10am on the day of your reservation to be granted a refund. No exceptions will be made to this rule.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
If you email us at CMRentals@skicrystal.com no later than 10am the morning of your reservation, we can issue a refund on your rentals. We need advance notice to re-open those rentals to other customers.
DO YOU HAVE DAILY LOCKER RENTALS?
Yes- we offer daily locker rentals inside the Brand-X Equipment shop. We have 160 small lockers onsite. The locker rentals accept payment from your phone, just scan the QR code on the locker you want to rent. Or make payment at the locker kiosk located in front of the bay of lockers. Locker rentals are only 1-day use and must be cleared out before the shop closes. No after-hours access. Each locker automatically resets at the end of each day. WHAT DO I DO WITH MY SHOES AFTER I GET MY RENTAL BOOTS ON?
You have the option to get a daily locker to store personal items, or if you booked in advance, we also offer complimentary shoe storage at our boot stations. There is NO space to just leave your shoes at the resort. Because of the limited space at the resort, you cannot store any other personal gear with your shoe storage.

DO YOU HAVE OVERNIGHT SKI OR BAG STORAGE?
YES: We offer a few seasonal slots and have daily/overnight options available as well. You can access it during the same hours as rentals. 30 minutes before and after ski lift operation.
DO I GET A CRYSTAL OR IKON PASS HOLDER DISCOUNT ON RENTALS?
YES: New this season, we are offering special discounts to Ikon Pass Holders and Crystal Legend Pass Holders. The discount for demos and tunes for Crystal Legend pass holders will receive 25% off daily demo rates with a scan of your pass. Ikon Pass holders will receive a 15% off daily demo rates with a scan of your pass. Please see the Pass holders discount page to learn more.

WILL THE COST CHANGE IF I WANT TO SWITCH FROM SKIS TO SNOWBOARD OR VICE VERSA?
NO, $0 CHARGE- It is the same price for a Beginner level ski or snowboard package. All you need to do is check in with a tech ensuring we have the available gear to switch out to. We recommend you wait until midday to swap out gear types. Just return your original gear so we can replace it with the other type of gear. All gear swaps/upgrades are based on availability.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS CAN I USE TO PAY FOR MY RENTAL?
You can pay with any form of payment including installment options, Apple or Google pay, and all forms of credit and debit cards.
