FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Are lift tickets and rentals included?
A. No, you will have to purchase lift access and rental equipment for yourself or your child. We recommend purchasing one of our Season Passes as well as season-long rentals.

Q. Will the same group be together for the duration of the program?
A. Yes. We may move students during the first week to insure that everyone is in the appropriate group.

Q. What do we need to bring for the snowboard or ski lesson?
A. You will need a lift ticket or season pass. Be sure your personal gear is working and the right fit for your student or pick-up rental gear in advance of the lesson. Make sure all gear is being worn upon arrival and you or your child are equipped with the clothing and gear appropriate for the day’s weather and activities. This usually includes sunscreen, face covering, waterproof gloves, jacket, pants, ski goggles, and a helmet.

Q. What is the cancellation policy for Seasonal Lesson Programs?
A. We understand that life happens and sometimes plans change. We are happy to cancel your lessons prior to November 1st and will keep a waitlist for programs that are full. If you need to contact us or have any other questions, you can reach us at ProgramLessons@skicrystal.com.

Q: Are lunches included in Seasonal Lesson Programs?
A: Lunch is included in all youth and child Seasonal Lesson lessons. Lunch is not included in the Adult Seasonal Lesson program.
Q. What is the age range?
A. We accept children ages 4 to12-years-old for child & youth group lessons. Children 13 and older go into Daily Adult Group Lessons.

Q. How many kids will be in their class?
A. The groups sizes vary. They are set up so that the usual average class size is 4 people for 4 to 6-year-olds and 6 people for 7 to 15-year-olds. Group sizes of these numbers create a fun atmosphere while allowing for individual focus from the instructor.

Q. When and where do we drop off/pick up our kids?
A. All children registered for Daily Group Lessons will need to be checked in at the Ski & Ride School Sales Desk in the Chinook Lodge on level 3 (the level just below the Rental Center) between 8:00am-8:30am (weekends & holidays) or 8:30am-9:00am (weekdays) and dropped off at the Adventure Center no later than 9:30am for the morning session. Afternoon check-in time is at 12:00pm at the Ski & Ride School Desk and drop off at the Adventure center no later than 12:30pm. If rentals are needed, please drop off at the start of the drop-off time. Late arrival may forfeit the lesson as lessons in progress cannot be joined late.

Pick-up is at the Adventure Center at 12pm for the morning lesson and between 3pm to 4pm for the afternoon lesson. When dropping off your child, you will be given a wristband that you or another adult you have designated will show the Ski & Ride School Supervisor upon pick-up. If the wristband is lost or forgotten, you will be required to show picture ID. Drop off and pick-up times are strictly enforced. If you show up later than 12pm we will have to charge extra for a lunch. If you show up later than 4pm you will be charged $5.00 for every minute you are late.

Q. Where can I purchase a lift ticket for the day?
A. A lift ticket can be purchased online, from the Ticket Booths, Guest Services, or the Ski & Ride School Sales Desk. If purchased online, print the lift ticket at a Ticket Kiosk.

Q. Will I be able to watch my kids during the lesson? Can I join them on the chairlift?
A. If parents keep their distance and are not disrupting the class, they are allowed to watch. If the instructor feels the parent is causing a disruption, the parent will be asked to leave the area to be fair to their child and the other members of the group. For chairlifts, if there is a space available, the parent can accompany their child. Parents may be utilized as chair riders for those kids that have a difficult time loading/unloading a chair by themselves.

Q. Where will I or my child be skiing?
A. The terrain will depend on the ability level of the group. Our instructors are trained to find terrain that is suitable to practice specific skills in a safe and fun way for the group.

Q. Are lift tickets and rentals included?
A. Lift tickets and rentals are included with the first timer packages only. All other child daily group lessons will need a lift ticket and equipment. Lift tickets for kids 4 and under are free; pick up their free ticket at any Ticket Booth, Guest Services, or the Ski & Ride School Sales Desk. Rentals can be purchased in advance or at the door.

A. There are no refunds for cancelling your Daily Lesson. You may reschedule your lesson up to 48 hours in advance of the scheduled lesson. You will forfeit your lesson if you miss the 48-hour deadline or if you are not ready to go at the start of your lesson.

Q. My child has special needs, can they join the group lessons?
A. Yes, we have many instructors that are trained to work with children with special needs. When booking a lesson, please note what the special needs are so we can prepare for them. If a group lesson is not the environment that your child thrives in, we have private lesson options.

Q. What if I or my child is late to my Multi Week or Freeride program?
A. If your child is later than 15mins for a Multi Week Program or the Freeride Development Program, they will be able to meet up with their group at lunchtime to join the rest of the day. If your child is later than 15 minutes for the All Mountain or Competition Freeride Program, they will forfeit their day. There is no way to meet up with those groups once they have gone out.
Q. Are lift tickets included in the lesson? Are rentals?
A. The First-timer package includes a discounted beginner lift ticket (Discovery Chair and Magic Carpet only) and rental equipment. The Intermediate package includes a discounted all-mountain lift ticket and rental equipment. This is best suited for guests who are already comfortable on green and blue runs.

Q. When & where do we check-in and meet?
A. Check in at the Ski & Ride School Sales Desk in the Chinook Lodge on level 3 (the level just below the Brand X Rental Center) between 8:00am-9:00am (weekends & holidays) or 8:30am-9:00am (weekdays) for morning lessons and between 11am-12pm for afternoon lessons. Q. What level lesson should I sign up for?
A. Adult lessons have four different levels. First Timer Lessons are for those who have never done it before. Beginner Lessons are for those who are novices in their second or third day on snow. Intermediate Lessons are for those that are going up the mountain on easy intermediate runs. Advanced Clinics are for those what want to challenge themselves on the most difficult runs and refine technique.
Q. What is included in the price of a Private Lesson?
A. The only thing included in the private lesson is the tuition. You will need to provide a lift ticket or season pass and your own equipment or rental gear.

Q. What is the cancellation policy for Private Lessons?
A. There are no refunds for cancelling your Daily Lesson. You may reschedule your lesson up to 48 hours in advance of the scheduled lesson. You will forfeit your lesson if you miss the 48-hour deadline or if you are not ready to go at the start of your lesson.

Q. What levels of ability can go together in a private lesson?
A. We can accommodate all levels of ability in a private lesson, however, the instructor will need to stay on the terrain that suits the lowest level of ability. The opportunity exists to break the group up as well into different ability blocks and to come back together at the end if desired. You will make that decision with your instructor. If you are looking to practice with very specific goals, then perhaps it would be best to be 1 on 1, or with just a few people that you have selected because they are very similar in their levels of ability.
