HOW TO GET YOUR EQUIPMENT:
After you have reserved your equipment online, stop by the main Brand X entrance on the fourth level of the Cascade Lodge to be welcomed into our shop. You will need to show proof of your reservation either printed or on your phone so a technician can scan the barcode and assist you with getting the correct gear.
For snowboarders under 12 years old, the beginner rental will help build a foundation of skill on beginner-groomed runs. These boards are ideal for recreational-focused slopes and will allow for an easy entry to learning how to snowboard. We offer the Rossignol EXP board with EXP bindings.

Available Ski Sizes: 80cm, 90cm, 104cm, 116cm and 128cm
Available Snowboards Sizes: 80cm, 90cm, 100cm, 110cm, 120cm and 130cm

All Gear Package includes skis, boots, poles, helmet, goggles, jacket and pants.
Standard Package includes skis, boots, and poles.

Helmets are available for rent at an additional cost.

HOW MANY LEVELS OF GEAR ARE AVAILABLE FOR RENT?

3 Levels of Ski Gear:

  • Sports Rental (Beginner- Skier Type I)
  • Performance Rental (Intermediate- Skier Type 2)
  • High-Performance Demos Rental (Advanced- Skier Type 3+)

2 Levels of Snowboard Gear:

  • Sports Rental (Beginner Boarder Type)
  • High-Performance Demo Rental (Advanced Boarder Type)


HOW DO I DETERMINE MY SKIER TYPE?

Type 1 Skier
A type 1 skier prefers skiing cautiously and at slower speeds. This skier is most comfortable on smooth slopes of gentle to moderate pitch. As a type 1 skier, you prefer lower-than-average release/retention settings so, in the case of a fall, your bindings are more likely to release. A type 1 skier is an entry-level skier uncertain about their classification.


Type 2 Skier
A type 2 skier prefers a variety of speeds. A type 2 skier will ski on varied terrains and explores different parts of the mountain. If a skier cannot decide that they are a 1 or 3 they are a 2. Type 2 skiers prefer average release/retention settings appropriate for most recreational skiing.


Type 3 Skier
A type 3 skier prefers faster speeds. A type 3 skier skis aggressively on slopes of moderate to steep pitch. Type 3 skiers prefer higher-than-average release/retention settings for decreased risk of inadvertent binding release. Please mention any dissatisfaction with your equipment to your binding technician.


WHAT BRANDS DO YOU CARRY IN YOUR RENTAL FLEET?
We are considered a Rossignol Experience Center, which means we carry all Rossignol downhill ski and snowboard equipment. Rossignol gear will make you feel comfortable and supported, giving you the best chance for having fun and progress in your ability.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN “PACKAGE” VS “SKI OR BOOT ONLY”?
“Ski or Snowboard Package” = Includes Skis, Boots, Bindings, and Poles or Snowboard, Boots, and Bindings.


“Ski/Snowboard Only Rental” = Includes only Skis and Bindings/Snowboard and Bindings (BOOTS ARE NOT INCLUDED). You will want this item if you bring your personal Ski/Snowboard Boots.


“Ski/Snowboard Boots Only” = Includes Only Ski/Snowboard Boots. SKIS/SNOWBOARDS ARE NOT INCLUDED. You will want this item if you bring your own personal Skis/Snowboard.

WHAT BRANDS DO YOU CARRY IN YOUR DEMO SELECTION?
Our Demo fleet continues to get more refined year after year and we listen to what our customers are looking for. This season we have 80 ski models in 220 total Skis. 60 Snowboard models in 75 total Boards from Rossignol, K2, Line, Volkl, Blizzard, Armada, Atomic, Nordica, Salomon, 4Front, Arbor, Jones, GNU, Capita, and Lib Tech.

WHAT BINDINGS DO YOU USE ON YOUR DEMO FLEET?
Ski Bindings: Marker and Atomic on this season’s Skis.
Snowboard Bindings: Union and Rossignol on this season’s Snowboards.


HOW NEW IS YOUR RENTAL EQUIPMENT?
Our rental fleet was all brand-new last season. We increased the number of units this season, adding 20% more.

WHAT OTHER TYPES OF EQUIPMENT ARE YOU RENTING THIS YEAR?
Each item below is an additional cost. If you need everything, check out the “Everything Package” to bundle all these below to save lots of $$.
Clothing: Both Jackets and Pants for all ages and sizes.
Goggles: For all ages and sizes
Snowshoes: For all ages and sizes
Helmets: For all ages and sizes
Shoe Storage, Ski Storage, and Bag Storage: for all sizes
All gear is cleaned and sanitized regularly.


HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO PROVIDE ACCURATE DETAILS WHEN PRE-ORDERING EQUIPMENT?
Extremely important! The details you provide help us select equipment appropriate for your ability and size and allow us to safely configure the binding release settings on the skis. Skiing can be dangerous, and we want to minimize any dangers.

DO I NEED TO MAKE A RENTAL RESERVATION?
YES- To save you time in line at the resort, you will now need to reserve your gear 100% online before you arrive. You can use the mobile app as well as our website. Please plan accordingly and make your reservation in advance for a smoother Brand-X experience.


Gear is limited and we can sell out quickly. Payment is taken in full at the time of reservation. Your reservation is fully refundable if canceled by 10 am the day of your reservation. We do not have a booking window, but if we have gear available you can book online the morning of the day you would like to visit.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T MAKE A RESERVATION AND “WALK IN” TO RENT?
There are no Rental Cashiers this season. We are requiring everyone to book rentals online. If you were unable to reserve online, we will have a computer available for you to use to book your rental equipment. There will be assistance in the shop if you need any help.

WHEN DO I NEED TO BOOK MY RENTAL RESERVATION?
You can book your rental at any time, but we highly recommend you book as soon as you confirm you are visiting. We recommend reserving 3-7 days in advance. Allow more time during the holiday season.

WHAT IS AND WHERE IS BRAND-X EQUIPMENT?
Brand-X equipment is located on the 4th level of Cascade Lodge and includes:
Rental + Demo Shop, Repair Shop + Waxing, Day use Lockers, and Ski & Bag Storage.
Ski and Bag Storage is just outside on the corner of the sundeck. You can proceed directly to the sundeck if ski storage is all you need.


WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE EQUIPMENT OR WANT ANOTHER SIZE?
If you have questions you can stop by Brand-X Equipment to talk with one of our pros to get you properly set up. We will be happy to fix any problems as quickly as possible.

WILL THE COST CHANGE IF I WANT TO SWITCH FROM SKIS TO SNOWBOARD OR VICE VERSA?
NO, $0 CHARGE- It is the same price for a sport-level ski or snowboard package. If we have the available gear to switch out, there is no additional charge. Just return your original gear so we can replace it. Any upgrades are based on availability.

HOW DO I GET THE BEST DEAL?
Rental packages and multi-day rentals save the most money. Mid-week pricing is always a better deal, and it can be more fun skiing with fewer people around.

ARE SKI POLES INCLUDED IN THE COST OF RENTING SKIS OR SNOWSHOES?
Yes- ski poles will come with a rental package. Our staff will help teach and size you correctly. The only time you would need to pay for poles is if that is all you need. Each set of skis comes with 1 set of poles.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET RENTALS THROUGH BRAND-X EQUIPMENT?
Less than 30 min. We take pride in moving quickly and safely to get you on the snow as fast as possible. Always give yourself ample time to travel to the resort. Road conditions and people will slow down your travel time. Please allow for more time when taking a lesson and during peak periods.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I FORGET/LOSE OR NEED TO BUY A PIECE OF GEAR THAT DOESN’T COME WITH MY RENTAL (SOCKS, GLOVES, GOGGLES, ETC.)
We do not rent Socks or Gloves. Do not worry, the resort sells all those items at Crystal Mountain Outfitters in the Mountain Commons Lodge.

WHERE DO I RETURN MY RENTAL EQUIPMENT?
Return your equipment to the same place from where you picked it up. Located on the snow level inside from the firepit on the sundeck.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE MY RENTALS OR DON’T RETURN MY RENTALS ON TIME?
You will be charged for an additional daily rental if the gear is not returned by the time we close.


If the gear that is checked out to you gets lost or stolen, please tell a Brand-X employee immediately. If gear cannot be found, you will be charged the full retail price. That includes losing just 1 ski.

CAN I EXTEND MY RENTAL IF I DECIDE TO STAY ANOTHER DAY?
Based on availability for the following day. Speak with one of our shop pros for assistance before you return your gear.

ARE HELMETS INCLUDED WITH MY SKI/SNOWBOARD RENTAL?
No- Helmets are not included with any equipment package. Helmets are optional even though we highly recommend wearing a helmet for personal safety. Our helmets are all sanitized and checked for safety after every use. Crystal Mountain Outfitters also sells helmets of all levels.

WILL YOU HELP ME SET UP MY OWN PERSONAL GEAR?
The rental shop is not liable to help set up your own personal gear. You can take your gear to the repair shop and a trained tech can assist you.

DO YOU PROVIDE ANY FORM OF COVERAGE THAT COVER AGAINST EXCESSIVE DAMAGE OF EQUIPMENT? (LOSS AND THEFT NOT INCLUDED)
Yes – we offer an optional damage waiver fee that covers your skis or snowboard against accidental damage with no additional cost. This is charged on a daily basis for the duration of your rental. The price depends on the level of ski or snowboard you are renting. When booking your equipment, you will need to include the “Damage Waiver Cost”. The damage waiver only covers repair to the gear and does not cover lost, stolen, or broken gear.

DO YOU HAVE DAILY LOCKER RENTALS?
Yes- we offer daily locker rentals inside the main rental shop. We have 160 small lockers onsite. The locker rentals accept payment from your phone. Scan the QR code on the locker you want to rent or make your payment at the locker kiosk. Locker rentals are available for 1-day use and must be cleared out before the building closes. Lockers automatically reset at the end of each day, please do not leave any items behind. Let us know if you accidentally left any items. You can email us at CMRentals@skicrystal.com

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY SHOES AFTER I GET MY RENTAL BOOTS ON?
You have the option to reserve a daily locker, shoe storage, or bring shoes back to your vehicle. Because of the limited space at the resort, we will not let you store your gear other than in designated areas. If shoes are left in any undesignated locations around the lodge, you can recover them back at ski and bag storage and will need to pay the storage fee to get them back.

WHAT TIME DOES YOUR RENTAL/DEMO SHOP STAY OPEN TILL?
The shop opens and closes 30 minutes before and after the last lift, night skiing included.

CAN I RENT GEAR THE AFTERNOON BEFORE THE DAY OF MY RENTAL?
YES: If we have your gear available, you can come in to pick it up between 2-4 pm the day before. If you would like us to store the gear for you overnight, we can do so at a discounted rate.

DO YOU HAVE OVERNIGHT SKI OR BAG STORAGE?
YES: New this season, we do have overnight storage as an option. You can take your gear out on the sundeck to “Ski and Bag Storage” before 4:00 pm to get it safely stored overnight for a small fee.

DO I GET A CRYSTAL OR IKON PASS HOLDER DISCOUNT ON RENTALS?
NO: Discounts are not given on rental gear for pass holders. As an alternative, if you want to check out the newest gear on a regular basis, we offer the “Demo Pass” for unlimited seasonal demos.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET INJURED OR SICK AND AM UNABLE TO USE MY RENTAL?
Refunds will be offered only in cases of illness or injuries occurring within the first 2 hours of your ski day, and resort closures. If you are sick, please send an email to CMRentals@skicrystal.com before 10 am on the day of your reservation to be granted a refund. No exceptions will be made to this rule.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS CAN I USE TO PAY FOR MY RENTAL?
We accept multiple forms of payment including installments, Apple or Google Pay, and all credit and debit cards.

CAN YOU GUARANTEE ME A SPECIFIC DEMO MODEL?
We will always try our best to fulfill a specific model and size request, but no guarantees. We can promise to find every reservation a great alternative to your selection if we are unable to reserve your request. Each reservation gets one demo selection at the time of reservation. If you would like to switch equipment throughout the day, just drop off your gear to see what else is available.
